Window or door sticker

An evening to design, about a week for delivery · 5 steps

A vinyl QR sticker for your front window or door. UV-laminated vinyl lasts 3–5 years outdoors.

  1. 01

    Pick the spot

Door-handle height for customers leaving. Top corner of the front window for passers-by. You can do both.

  2. 02

    Choose the size

80–120 mm square for a door sticker; up to 200 mm for a window sticker seen from the pavement. Keep the QR at least 30 mm, with a clear white border (the quiet zone) around it. Keep it dark on a light background.

    20 mmthe smallest that's safe
    30 mmcomfortable for most signs
40 mmeasy from across a table
  3. 03

Order vinyl with a UV laminate, not paper

Ask for a vinyl decal or outdoor sticker with a UV-resistant laminate — that's what lasts 3–5 years. Vistaprint and Solopress do this by default; cheaper printers often don't, so state it.

AvoidDon't use plain paper for a window. It fades and curls within weeks.
  4. 04

    Order inside-glass where possible

If the message only needs to face outward, order an "inside-glass" (reverse-printed) sticker. The glass then protects the print, so it lasts longer. Send the printer the 480 px PNG for codes up to about 40 mm; for larger, ask them to redraw it as a vector.

  5. 05

    Apply it

Clean the glass with glass cleaner first. Peel the backing slowly. Smooth out air bubbles from the centre outwards with a credit card. Don't leave a bubble under the QR, or it may not scan.
